The 2.X-series Roadster uses a dedicated high-voltage electric A/C compressor to provide cabin cooling and defog/defrost performance. This compact aluminum assembly incorporates the high-voltage motor and compressor in one unit and is driven directly from the traction pack at approximately 400 V DC. With age or contamination these compressors can
become noisy, lose cooling capacity, or set HVAC fault codes, leaving the Roadster with little or no A/C, or more ominously, ESS Main Battery Pack cooling.
The unit offered here is the correct high-voltage A/C compressor for Tesla Roadster 2.0 / 2.5 vehicles. It is configured for the Roadster’s R134a system and uses the required Polyolester (POE) electric-compressor oil. This compressor is not interchangeable with the earlier 1.5 Roadster design, which uses a different oil (PVE) and compressor architecture.
