  • Fan Adapter Cable

    The SPAL brand PEM cooling fan assembly used in 2.x Roadsters was originally modified by Tesla, cutting off the connector that came with the Cooling Fan, and a pigtail was spliced onto the remaining wires so it can mate with a dual sockets portion of the Roadster wiring harness.

    Step 1
    Updating the Firmware

    Go to the Garmin website and download the necessary files from Garmin Support

    1. Make sure you have computer running Windows XP or later.
      a. (For the purposes of this guide I will be using Windows 10)
    2. Install the USB drivers with – USBDrivers_2312.exe
    3. Install the firmware updater tool – GPS18xPC_LVC_440.exe
      a. It will extract the Updater executable and the region file to – C:\Garmin\GPS18x_PC_LVC
    4. Plug in the cable to connect to the GPS device to two free USB ports on your computer.
    1. Run the Sensor Configuration executable – SNSRXCFG_330.exe by right clicking on the executable and selecting “Run as Administrator”.
      Running the Sensor Configuration executable as administrator is critical as the Updater executable needs administrator rights to run.
    2. Select the Base Model as GPS 18x PC/LVC and then click the OK button.
    3. Go to Comm in the toolbar at the top, and select Setup from the dropdown menu
    4. Under Serial Port, select the COM port that your USB to Serial connector is using, and set the Baud Rate to manual and at 4800. Click the OK button.
      You can find which COM port the USB to Serial device is using by open the Device Manager (Start Menu->Device Manager). You will find the device under Ports (COM & LPT), and the COM port number in parentheses next to the USB to Serial device.
    5. Go to Comm in the toolbar at the top, and select Connect from the dropdown menu
    6. Go to Config in the toolbar at the top, and select Update Software from the dropdown menu
    7. The software will ask you to select the new region file, and it will automatically open the folder created earlier C:\Garmin\GPS18x_PC_LVC
    8. Select the region folder named 079601000XXX.rgn, where XXX is the version number of the software. In our case it will be v4.40 so look for the file 079601000440.rgn.
    9. The software will then ask you to select the updater executable that will perform the firmware update, and again it will automatically open the folder created earlier C:\Garmin\GPS18x_PC_LVC
    10. Select the Updater.exe executable
    11. On the Updater software, next to Serial Port set the same COM port you used earlier, and set the Baud Rate below it to 9600. Click the OK button.
    12. Wait for the update to finish. It takes about 4-5 minutes to finish
    13. Once the update has successfully finished, click the OK button.
    14. If you wish to double check the firmware version you need to reconnect to the GPS device. Close the Sensor Configuration executable SNSRXCFG_330.exe.
    15. Run the Sensor Configuration executable SNSRXCFG_330.exe. Running it administrator is not necessary when checking the firmware version on the GPS device, only when updating the firmware.
    16. Follow the instructions for checking the firmware version in the section below “Checking the Installed Firmware Version” starting at step 7

    Step 2
    Checking the Installed Firmware Version

    Go to the Garmin website and download the necessary files from Garmin Support

    7. Wait 30 seconds to a minute for the $PGRMT message near the bottom to come through and display the firmware version near the end of the string right after GPS 18x-LVC software ver.

    This product is another fine example of the skills and dedication in the Tesla Roadster Owners community, developed by three talented members as a way to access a Roadster through cell phone.

    The Open Vehicle Monitoring System (OVMS) is continually being enhanced and has replaced the defunct 2G nework built into the Roadster for remotely monitoring a variety of vehicle statistics via web interface or smartphone applications.

    The base kit includes:

    This conversion moves an inaccessible 12 Volt Battery to the trunk, reducing replacement time from hours to minutes.  A voltmeter displays charge status, and gives early warning when the battery is due for replacement (anything over 13 VDC indicates a healthy battery).

    Instead of disassembling the passenger wheel well for battery replacement, a battery swap takes less than 3 minutes.

    This relocation kit includes:

  • Decal Set

    These decals, both the lower door portion, and fender “T” are peel-and-stick 3M vinyl sticker with adhesive backing, that can be transferred by peeling off the base.

    Application is a simple process using soapy liquid for final alignment and placement.  These durable 3M decals are easy to apply, and will last for many years.  Four decals are supplied, two “T”‘s and two door banners, for right and left side.

    Many of the early Roadsters proudly displayed these side murals, in a time period when these were the only Tesla vehicles on the road.

  • High Performance Brake Kit

    The Tesla Roadster, built on a Lotus Elise platform, pushed the limits of the stock brakes with the insertion of a 1000 lb battery pack.

    Anyone that has ever driven a Roadster, will attest to the fact that the car has plenty of go power, but a bit deficient on the slowing down and stopping power.

    Gruber Motor Company (GMC), partnered with a well known professional performance brake product manufacturer who also supplies Tesla with brake systems , and jointly developed a high end upgrade brake package, specifically designed for the Tesla Roadster, that will overcome all the original deficiencies in the OEM brake system.

    This performance upgrade kit includes both front and rear rotors, and a full set of performance brake pads.

  • HVAC Controller 2.X

    As Low As: $495

    This sub-assembly resides under to hood on a Tesla Roadster, and controls the AC and Heater devices.  It was originally made by Eberspächer UK.

    It is also part of the Roadster pre-charge interlock loop, and when it fails, it will shut down the Roadster, cause isolation issues, or BSM error alerts, and can prevent the Roadster from charging.

    This part has been out of production for many years.   Tesla may have dwindling supply left.  Spares are often harvested from donor Roadsters, the supply of which is also steadily declining.  Even if a replacement is found, they have aged and are most likely full of deferred maintenance issues.

    Fortunately, this part is quite rebuildable.  We have successfully reverse engineered this part, and are offering full rebuild services which include resolving engineering problems, and improving the original design.  This part is meticulously repaired and rebuilt in our electronics lab by tenured Electronics Engineers skilled in reverse engineering, and component level repairs.

    There is a $500 core charge included if you select purchase price, which will be refunded once we receive your return core.  This allows us to keep a supply of rebuilt assemblies.

  • Shock Repair & Rebuild

    Non Adjustable and Single Adjustable Motorsports Damper Rebuild / Revalve Service
    Refurbishment is performed to drawing and original Bilstein specifications. Service includes replacing all seals, wipers, O-rings and oil. Damper will be dyno’ed and set back to desired OEM damping curve.

    The service life of shocks is only 3-5 years.  Often, the decline is subtle, over the period of years, but you vaguely remember when you first bought the Roadster, you did not feel every bump and pothole.

    We recommend rebuilding this vital suspension component in the Roadster every 3-5 years for optimum driving experience.  Shock oil goes bad, gets contaminated from either heat or moisture, loses viscosity, and like engine oil needs to be addressed.

  • Trunk and Hood Release Latch

    $98.95

    A pair of Trunk and Hood release latch pair is installed in the front and rear of both 1.5 and 2.x Roadsters.

    These latches should be periodically lubricated with teflon grease to prevent binding the trunk release solenoid.  A second pair of these latches is in the front hood, and manually actuated with a T handle pull to the left of the steering column.

    They do fail at times and we carry these in stock as well.

    This product is a direct replacement for both 1.5 and 2.x Roadsters, and will provide years of service.  Installation requires some tools and mechanical expertise.

  • Trunk Lid Struts

    Gas Struts will not last forever.

    In a Roadster, a properly functioning release strut should raise the trunk lid all the way when the actuator button is depressed.

    We find the majority of Roadsters we service, still have the original struts from 2008-2011, and since this item has a 7 year service life, they all need to be replaced, and often will not even hold up the trunk lid half way.

    This product is a direct replacement for both 1.5 and 2.x Roadsters, and will provide years of service.  Installation is relatively simple and DIY.

  • Trunk Release Actuator

    $28.95

    This Trunk Lid Release Actuator gets constant workout.

    It is a 12 Volt DC mechanical solenoid based device that pulls a plunger to release the latches that free up the Trunk Lid, which then opens with gas struts, lifting the trunk.

    In a Roadster, a properly functioning release system raises the trunk lid when the actuator button is depressed.  With age and use, this device becomes worn, eventually works intermittently, or not at all.

    This product is a direct replacement for both 1.5 and 2.x Roadsters, and will provide years of service.  Installation requires some tools and mechanical expertise.
