The 2.X-series Roadster uses a dedicated high-voltage electric A/C compressor to provide cabin cooling and defog/defrost performance. This compact aluminum assembly incorporates the high-voltage motor and compressor in one unit and is driven directly from the traction pack at approximately 400ย Vย DC. With age or contamination these compressors can
become noisy, lose cooling capacity, or set HVAC fault codes, leaving the Roadster with little or no A/C, or more ominously, ESS Main Battery Pack cooling.
The unit offered here is the correct high-voltage A/C compressor for Tesla Roadster 2.0 / 2.5 vehicles.ย It is configured for the Roadsterโs R134a system and uses the required Polyolester (POE) electric-compressor oil. This compressor is not interchangeable with the earlier 1.5 Roadster design, which uses a different oil (PVE) and compressor architecture.
