Complete the communication link between your computer and your Roadster. The PEAK PCAN USB-to-CAN adapter works in conjunction with a compatible Tesla Roadster diagnostic cable, interface drivers, and Roadster diagnostic software to support Vehicle Management System (VMS) troubleshooting.
It provides the hardware interface needed for compatible software to communicate with the connected CAN network.
The attached USB cable connects to your computer, while the 9-pin D-sub (DB9) CAN connector connects to the appropriate connection on the Roadster diagnostic harness. The adapter handles communication between the computer and CAN bus; the diagnostic software interprets available vehicle data and
provides the supported service functions.

A complete Roadster diagnostic setup requires this adapter, a compatible computer and PEAK interface drivers, the correct Tesla Roadster diagnostic cable, and supported Roadster diagnostic software. The diagnostic harness provides the vehicle-side connection; this adapter provides the USB-to-CAN interface.
Roadster-specific functions depend on the diagnostic software, adapter compatibility, and vehicle firmware. Software commonly referred to as “Puppy Suite” is used in supported Roadster diagnostic workflows. Firmware programming, configuration changes, and other advanced functions require the appropriate software, files, and supported hardware combination; purchasing the adapter alone does not provide those capabilities.
Obtain the Gruber Motors VMS Breakout Cable to complete the diagnostic capability. Along with Puppy Suite, the PCAN Adapter and VMS Breakout cable, allow access to the Roadster Firmware for a number of diagnostic and programming functions.
