Roadster 2.x models, VIN 501 on up, use a small auxiliary batteryโburied under the front passenger fenderโto power all 12-volt electronics. A Tesla retrofit from the 1.5 series Roadsters which used two of eleven battery sheets to supply 12 Volts causing premature sheet failure.ย The solution was 12 Volt support from a battery.ย This battery should be replaced every couple of years.
Our upgraded unit increases capacity to 12 Ah (vs. the typical 8 Ah motorcycle battery) and is engineered specifically for electronic applications (no starter motor required).
