Insert this charge socket cover for added protection from the elements. The unit mounts in the charge Port in the driver side rear quarter panel behind the fuel-door style flap (Lotus leftover) and provides a secure, weather-resistant interface for the vehicle’s onboard charger. Correct geometry preserves panel alignment and the familiar Roadster look.
This product is one of those innovations that adds protection for the Roadster’s Type 1 charge port socket, keeping water out. One of the best parts of Roadster ownership is the community behind it. Even with only ~2,000 cars in the world,
the support culture is strong—and a handful of resourceful innovators have created genuinely useful aftermarket solutions.
Chris Orndorff a Roadster owner, invented this little cap. His inspiration was:
“The inspiration came from washing my car, I found if I put a plastic bag with a rubber band over the charge port when I washed my car no water would get inside and throw an error for water in port. I wanted something more permanent. So I made a bunch of prototypes out of plastic until I got the final design that I now print out of a carbon fiber embedded nylon.”

Maintenance Tip: Keep the cap closed when not charging. Periodically check the gasket,
clean contacts with approved electrical contact cleaner, and confirm door hinge torque to prevent misalignment and water ingress.
