Coolant Pump – 1041151-00-E

Tesla Model Y โ€” Auxiliary Coolant Pump โ€” 1088245-00-J / -00-K

Fits Tesla Model Y 2020โ€“2025 โ€ข Shared Model 3/Y design โ€ข Auxiliary coolant pump at thermal manifold

The Tesla Model Y uses compact, brushless auxiliary coolant pumps to circulate coolant through the battery, drive unit, and heat pump circuits.
This OEM-style pump (1088245-00-J / -00-K family) is the heart of the low-temperature loop, helping keep the high-voltage battery, power electronics and cabin thermal system in their ideal operating range. A weak or failed pump can trigger coolant warnings, thermal limits, reduced power, or poor cabin heat/defrost.

Why these pumps fail
  • Coolant leaks or air in the system โ€” Small leaks at hoses, O-rings, or the manifold let the pump run low on coolant until it overheats and seizes.
  • Improper refill / no vacuum fill โ€” If the system is filled without a vacuum tool, trapped air can cause cavitation, noise, and early pump failure.
  • High thermal load โ€” Repeated fast charging, hot-climate driving, towing, or track use loads the thermal system and exposes marginal pumps.
  • Age and contaminated coolant โ€” Old or contaminated coolant accelerates internal wear, increases drag on the impeller, and can cause electrical faults.

What this part does for your Model Y
  • Restores proper coolant flow โ€” Keeps coolant moving through the battery, drive unit, chiller and heat pump circuits to prevent thermal derating.
  • Supports DC fast charging โ€” Stable battery temps during Supercharging help maintain charging speeds and long-term pack life.
  • Improves cabin comfort โ€” On heat-pump Model Y, the coolant loop is tied into the HVAC system; a healthy pump helps restore strong heat and defrost.
  • Direct replacement for 3/Y โ€” Shared Model 3/Y pump design with factory electrical connector and mounting, no wiring modifications.

Technical Specifications & Fitment
Tesla OEM PN (interchange) 1088245-00-J / 1088245-00-K; commonly interchangeable with 1619322-00-C and 1492611-S0-A (verify by VIN).
Application Tesla Model Y 2020โ€“2025 (all trims) auxiliary coolant pump; also used on many Model 3 vehicles with the shared thermal system.
Function Brushless electric pump circulating coolant through the low-temperature loop (battery, powertrain, chiller and heat pump as configured).
Mounting Location Front of vehicle, attached to the coolant manifold / supermanifold assembly behind the front aero shield.
Bolt Torque Approx. 1.8ย Nm (1.3ย lb-ft) for the four mounting screws (always follow the latest Tesla service specifications).
Included Auxiliary coolant pump assembly only. O-rings, coolant, and mounting hardware sold separately unless otherwise noted in the options above.
Installation Notes Requires Service Mode, coolant drain and vacuum refill / bleed. Professional installation strongly recommended for Model Y thermal systems.

Service & installation support

Replacing a Model Y auxiliary coolant pump is more involved than a conventional ICE water pump. The procedure includes putting the car into
Service Mode, safely disconnecting low-voltage power, removing front aero shields, and using a vacuum-fill tool to purge air from the system
before refill. We recommend installation by a technician experienced with Tesla Model 3/Y thermal systems or having the work performed at Gruber Motors.

Maintenance tip: Any time you replace a coolant pump on Model Y, install new, lightly lubricated O-rings on the manifold ports and run the full
Coolant Fill/Drain routine in Service Mode. Simply topping off the reservoir can leave air pockets that cause noise, poor thermal performance,
or a repeat pump failure.
