Tesla Roadster VIN 1459 โ€” The Last Standard Production Roadster

This special Tesla Roadster is the last standard production car off the assembly line. VIN 1459 marked the end of Roadster production in North America, which is why Elon autographed the PEM.

After this final Roadster came five special paint Roadsters with carbon fiber plaques, often referred to as the โ€œFinal Five.โ€

What makes this Roadster so special
  1. It came to us, like so many Roadsters do, dead and unable to charge with a dying ESS battery pack. Transport took longer than anticipated since the Roadster did not receive CPR when it bricked, and the locked wheels posed a transport challenge.
Precious time was wasted, further draining the ESS pack. Despite these obstacles, we repaired the pack and brought it back to life.
  2. We see a lot of low-mileage collectible Roadsters that are pampered and flawless. This one was over the top, with only 2,400 miles after 10 years, never driven in the rain, and coming from Florida.
Once we put it up on the lift, we realized the undercarriage and internals were so clean and undisturbed that we thought we were looking at a Roadster that had just rolled off the assembly line.
This Roadster looked like it was in a time warp โ€” meticulously stored and preserved, unlike anything we had ever seen.
  3. Being the last standard production Roadster off the assembly line in the USA, VIN 1459 was personally signed by Elon on the PEM.
The autograph appears as fresh as the day it was signed.
Battery recovery and preservation

The battery recovery was straightforward. Had we not encountered transport delays, and had the Service Plug been pulled on the ESS pack, this Roadster likely would have been a
Level 1 battery recovery without pulling the battery pack. Since one of the sheets had a battery brick that had been below 2 VDC for too long, a sheet replacement was necessary, requiring a Level 2 battery pull.

This Roadster was so perfect that we were able to reverse engineer and document much of the chassis and frame, providing a rare glimpse of what these cars looked like fresh off the assembly line.
Using current state-of-the-art, high-resolution camera equipment, we were able to generate detailed images of the mechanical portions of the Roadster.

This rare Roadster will remain on the celebrity list as these cars continue to become more collectible.

Update โ€” Revs Institute

A special update for the Tesla Roadster community:

This last production Roadster built has now made its way to a very fitting new home โ€” the prestigious Revs Institute in Naples, Florida.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, No. 1459 was officially inducted into the museum, where it will be preserved and appreciated as part of automotive history.

For those of us who know what these cars represent, this is more than just another museum placement. The original Tesla Roadster helped prove that electric vehicles could be exciting, collectible, and historically significant. Seeing the final VIN preserved at a respected automotive institution is a proud moment for the Roadster community.
