The clearcoat crystallizes and begins cracking from UV exposure, thermal expansion and contraction, eventually breaching the structural bonding layers, and the net result is peeling and delamination of the clearcoat layer.
There are much better clearcoat products available to both preserve the headlight lenses, and provide molecular bonding for this protective coating which we apply after removing the old material.
