Tesla Roadster โ Long-Term Ownership, Performance Brakes
This
Tesla Roadster has been in the care of its current owner since 2013, when it was purchased with approximately
8,000 miles. The previous owner had purchased the car from Tesla only a few months earlier, allowing the Roadster to transfer with a
three-year bumper-to-bumper Tesla factory warranty in effect at the time.
During that warranty period, the Roadster received significant Tesla service, including replacement of the
Power Electronics Module (PEM) and
headlight assemblies.
The car was primarily used as a commuter, allowing the owner to take advantage of commuter-lane access and complimentary workplace charging while also enjoying one of the most distinctive and engaging electric sports cars ever produced.
The Roadster also received an upgraded braking package consisting of
four custom brake rotors and
Carbotech Bobcat brake pads sourced from Dave Levy at Cedar Ridge Fabrication in Oregon and professionally installed by Tesla.
A MC240
Tesla 240V portable charging unit is included with the vehicle.

Ownership History
The current owner purchased this Roadster in
2013 with approximately
8,000 miles showing.ย The previous owner had acquired the vehicle from Tesla only a few months before selling it to the current owner.ย As a result, the car came with the benefit of a
three-year bumper-to-bumper Tesla factory warranty then in effect.ย ย Since that time, the Roadster has remained with the same owner and was used primarily for commuting to and from work.
Tesla Warranty Service
While the vehicle was still covered by its Tesla factory warranty, two significant components were replaced.ย The
Power Electronics Module (PEM) was replaced by Tesla, providing the Roadster with an important service update to one of the primary components responsible for managing power between the battery and electric motor.ย ย The vehicle’s
headlight assemblies were also replaced by Tesla during the warranty period.ย These repairs were completed while the vehicle was still supported under the factory warranty then applicable to the car.
Performance Brake Upgrades
The owner also upgraded the Roadster’s braking system with a set of
four custom brake rotors and
Carbotech Bobcat brake pads purchased from Dave Levy at Cedar Ridge Fabrication in Oregon.ย ย Rather than installing the components independently, the owner had the complete brake package
professionally installed by Tesla.ย ย Carbotech Bobcat pads are designed as a performance-oriented street brake pad, making the upgrade particularly appropriate for a lightweight sports car such as the original Tesla Roadster.
Charging Equipment Included
Included with the sale is a MC240
Tesla 240V portable charging unit, providing the next owner with a convenient AC charging solution for home or destination charging where compatible 240V service is available.
Commuter Use & Reason for Sale
For much of the current owner’s time with the Roadster, the car served primarily as a work commuter. Its electric drivetrain provided the benefit of commuter-lane access, while the owner’s employer offered
complimentary workplace charging as an employee benefit.ย ย Of course, practicality was only part of the appeal. As the owner describes it, the Roadster was also a
quick and great-looking sports car that made the daily commute considerably more enjoyable.ย ย The owner has now
retired and no longer needs a dedicated commuter vehicle, prompting the decision to offer the Roadster to its next caretaker.
