Here is the backstory on this Roadster:

I bought the car from the original owner, one of the early Tesla Roadster vendors, hoping I can get the main battery recovered.
It turns out this is a hard bricked battery due to too much time having gone by without charge.

Tesla is stall making a replacement main battery for Roadsters.  Currently, they are quoting an 8 month lead time.

I have all service records since the car was new.

The Roadster has 1488 original miles on the Odometer, and the car is in new like condition.  Interior and exterior are perfect, like a new car when it was still driving and went to the Tesla Palo Alto Service Center two years ago.

I’m selling now because I’m planning to move to a city that does not have a Tesla Service Center, and I do not want to wait the 8 months for a replacement battery pack.

Our Take

Bricked Roadsters, in this current market, are selling for $50K – $60K.  Anyone considering buying one intends to put it back on the road with a delay of about 8 months until they can get a battery packs from Tesla.  (We can assist with order processing BTW)

For a normal bricked Roadster sale, this would be listed an upfront investment of $50K – $60K, and once you add $32K for a pack including tax tax, and in less than a year, you would have a fully functioning Roadster, at a cost slightly below $100K, where the current non-pedigree Roadster market currently hovers.

This particular Roadster is different in that it misses the desirable Signature series pedigree, is not a one-of color, or highly optioned, celebrity owned, extremely low VIN, BUT  it has an original mileage that has proven to be popular with investors, weighing it at only 1488 original miles.

Here are some comp value examples of recent low mileage Roadster sales:

VIN 1417 with 347 miles just sold for $225K   (non-Signature)

VIN 1410 with 1300 miles sold for $190K a year ago   (non-Signature)

Our estimates are that a 1488 mile odometer Roadster, and once a battery pack is replaced, it is worth $150K on the low side, to $200K on the upper side.
At a $119K sale price, that makes this a $150K  Roadster after a main battery replacement.

And, for those of you watching the Roadster market, yes, you could have bought this same car on Ebay a few weeks ago, but no one pulled the trigger.  We are now offering this Roadster as a collector potential.
This Roadster reminds us of the phrase, “diamond in the rough”.  It has not been professionally detailed, one of the pictures shows some cobwebs on the front bumper, and they are owner taken pictures, not done by a professional photographer.
