This 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport carries a rare and distinguished history. Acquired in 2015 directly from David Muffly — the “Tree Whisperer” and visionary arborist behind Apple Park — this car was a fixture in the early Palo Alto Tesla community. It represents a direct link to the pioneers who believed in the electric future before it became a global reality.
VIN #914 is a true California car. It spent its early years navigating the tech corridors of Northern California before being moved to Southern California for storage. It has been a beloved participant in Tesla community meet-ups and served as the “Gold Standard” for weekend road trips along the coast.
This Roadster has never known a salted road or a harsh winter, helping preserve the integrity of its aluminum chassis and composite body.
For years, this Roadster was a daily source of joy — an “occasional driver” that offered a pure, analog connection to the road that modern EVs have since smoothed away. It was only when life expanded to include two children that the owner transitioned into the Model S and Model 3. Since then, #914 has been carefully stored, waiting for its next chapter.
Currently, the vehicle is in a “bricked” state, with a non-running main battery pack. Technical logs (Logset 247774) show a CAC in the 130–140 range, indicating a candidate for a professional sheet-rebuild or the highly coveted R80 battery upgrade.
The front bumper sustained minor cosmetic damage during transport from the Bay Area to Southern California. This is a surface-level composite repair, common for the model, and does not affect the structural tub of the vehicle. For the collector who restores this car, these are the final steps to returning a significant piece of automotive history to the road.
This car was the spark that started a decade-long journey with electric vehicles. My goal is to find a steward who recognizes the historical weight of a sub-1,000 VIN Sport model and has the passion to bring this pioneer back to its full, 3.7-second 0–60 glory.
