Battery in trunk conversion kit

The secondary 12 Volt battery, which provides power to Vehicle Management VMS, Horn, Headlights, Audio, Door Locks, etc. is located in a fairly inaccessible place – the passenger wheel well.

It requires replacement every two years, usually alerting owners with the “SWP Aux Battery Error”. Our 12 Volt battery relocation kit makes future battery replacements, a quick 3 minute DIY process.

Turn off the APS through the diagnostic menu. To get at the old battery, remove the front passenger wheel and fender skirt.

Disconnect both positive and negative wires and cut off both terminal legs. Both will be crimped onto the battery extension cable later.

Using the supplied butt-splice connectors in the kit, strip back the existing battery connection wire, and crimp the extension wires as shown.

Route heavy gauge extension wires, clamping securely away from any moving suspension hardware, using tie-wraps and clamps as shown.

Drill a 3/8′ hole into the running board cavity. Using a fish tape, start pushing the metal tape from the front hole until it protrudes in the rear fender well.

Route the Extension wires avoiding any suspension components, under the PEM. Mount the battery box, and drill another 3/8″ and route wires into the box.

Mount the battery box using the supplied round head hardware, route the wires from the rear, and crimp on terminals and mount on block.

The voltmeter provides a visual indication of battery health. Anything above 13 VDC is good. Picture replacement is faston tab disconnect/reconnect.

We replace the 8 AH AGM motorcycle battery with a higher capacity 12 AH battery, or a Lithium battery with a 4 year warranty.

The kit includes, Battery Enclosure with Meter, 12′ of heavy 30 AMP stranded wire, two butt splice connectors, two terminal lugs, cable clamps, a 12 Volt 12 Amp Hour sealed no maintenance battery, tiewraps. Tech support is available for DIY installation.
